Preparing for Time Off Segmented Security (Guide)

This feature enables you to use segmented security to control who can request or correct time off types. Segmented security for time off removes the need for warnings and errors that control access on several business processes, streamlining your configurations.

Availability

On February 8, we update the date we intend to remove the opt-in Segmented Security for Time Off option on the Maintain Feature Opt-Ins report in Production from:

  • 2022-03-12 to TBD

Subscribe to the delay post for more information and updates.

We documented this feature in Announcing Workday 2022R1. At that time, we planned to deliver it on the standard release to Production. This change allows more time for customers to adopt the new functionality. It also allows us to address a use case we need to solve for before making Segmented Security for Time Off the default option in Production for all customers. When we have a new delivery plan for the removal of this feature's Opt-In, we’ll update this post.

Prepare for the Changes

  • Review the segment-based security groups on the Time Off Segmented Setup domain security policy.
    • If you previously used Employee as Self or Contingent Worker as Self in another type of security group, for example, Intersection:
      • Move that tenanted security group from the segment-based security group for All Time Off Segment.
      • Add it to the segment-based security group for Self Service Time Off Segment.
  • Create time off segments to provide access to a set of available time offs for specific types of users.
  • If you use an authentication policy to restrict access to certain domains, edit access restrictions and update your policies to include the segment-based security groups that the conversion creates.
  • If you went live with Absence after May 2021, create segment-based security groups for your time off segments in the Time Off Segmented domain to ensure that the appropriate groups have visibility for the time offs.
