European Union Data Access Policy

Workday's EU Access Policy offers you more control over your company’s data. It provides you with the option to have your data within Workday supported exclusively by Workday personnel based in Europe or other countries that the EU Commission deems to provide an adequate standard of data protection. You’re eligible for this program if:

  • Your headquarters are located in Europe.
  • You're under contract with Workday Limited.
  • Your data is processed and backed up in our European data centers.

The program became available as of June 30, 2016.

To opt in, enter a Customer Care case (Customer Care > Account > EU Access Policy) in the Workday Community. Workday provides an addendum outlining the EU Access Policy for you to sign. After the addendum is signed by you and Workday, you’ll need to request to activate the policy in your existing Customer Care case. After the EU Access Policy goes into effect:

  • Workday won't allow Support Analysts located in the United States to access your tenants.
  • Workday won't allow Developers located in the United States to access your tenants or request a copy for troubleshooting purposes.

If you encounter a high severity issue during U.S. working hours, you might need to meet with U.S.-based Support Analysts and Developers to demonstrate the problem and work together to resolve the issue. You won't be able to opt out of the program temporarily. However, you might permanently opt out at any time by submitting notice as outlined in the addendum.
