Getting Support on the Day of the Exam
This page answers common questions about issues that you might encounter throughout the exam process.
If you’re considering booking an exam appointment or are wondering how to prepare for your exam day, review the comprehensive videos and information on the Exams for Training page.
Issues Before or During Pre-Checks
No, refrain from creating a ProctorU account. Access and launch your exam exclusively through the links provided within the exam offering on your Workday Learning Center transcript.
Don't launch your exam directly through the ProctorU website. If you do, you might encounter the error Unable to connect to proctoring services or other issues while starting your exam, which can lead to unnecessary delays or complications. Sticking to the links in your exam course on your transcript is the correct and only required method.
It's critical that you launch your Workday Exam appointment at the exact scheduled time. Failure to launch your appointment on time will result in an automatic cancellation and will be marked as a No Show. Make all necessary exam arrangements beforehand and ensure you're ready to begin at your scheduled appointment time.
If you're unable to launch your exam appointment, the first step is to double-check your appointment details. Confirm both the scheduled time and the selected time zone are accurate.
If you've confirmed your time and time zone and are still experiencing difficulties launching your exam, work with your Training Coordinator to create a Training case.
When you take your Workday exam, you need to present a valid, government-issued photo identification (ID) for verification purposes.
Ensure that the name on your ID matches exactly the name on your Workday Learning Center account. Discrepancies between these names may cause issues with your exam.
If the name on your ID doesn't match your Workday Learning Center account:
Before Enrolling in the Exam: If you haven't yet enrolled in the exam, contact your Training Coordinator immediately to update your name in the Workday Learning Center before you enroll. This prevents problems down the line.
Already Enrolled: If you're already enrolled in the exam and have discovered a name mismatch, work with your Training Coordinator to contact us by a Training case for assistance. We'll need to address any issue before your exam appointment.
Take the time to verify your information and contact your Training Coordinator as soon as possible if you identify any discrepancies.
If you're launching your exam appointment and experience an error informing you of multiple sessions, we recommend closing the Guardian browser and relaunching your exam.
If the error persists, ask for help through the support chat within the ProctorU platform,
It's not permitted to take the exam with multiple monitors. If you're attempting to start your exam but have received a warning about multiple monitors even though you only have one connected, try this:
- If you have a closed laptop and a monitor connected, make sure the monitor is set to duplicate instead of extend or another similar option.
- If you have a closed laptop connected to a monitor, unplug the monitor and use the laptop screen.
- If your monitor is connected to a dock, try connecting the monitor directly to your device.
If the issue persists, ask for help through the support chat within the ProctorU platform.
Longer wait times are expected when exam volume is high. Be patient, your proctor should be with you shortly. We also recommend avoiding downloading the LMI applet as this may cause further delays.
If you have experienced wait times longer than 5 minutes, it might be due to a network security setting or fluctuating internet speed. If the issue persists, ask for help through the support chat within the ProctorU platform.
If you're experiencing trouble completing the pre-checks or are getting stuck at the Begin Recording step, it's likely that something on your device or network is blocking the necessary video connection.
Here's a breakdown of troubleshooting steps and recommendations:
1. Test your equipment: Thoroughly test your equipment (camera, microphone, bandwidth, CPU, and so on) to rule out any device-specific issues. Ensure that everything is functioning correctly and meets the exam system requirements. Remember to restart your device before the exam.
2. Check network security settings: Secure networks, especially those employing security tools like Zscaler or similar, can sometimes interfere with the exam platform. If you're on a corporate network, it's highly likely that your network security settings are the reason.
3. Work with your IT team (or use a personal device or connection): Work with your IT team to investigate your network settings. They can help identify any restrictions that might be blocking the video connection. To help your IT team, we've provided a required list of ports, IP ranges, and URLs that exam solutions require to function correctly. We strongly recommend bypassing proxy inspection for these connections to minimize latency, maintain voice communication quality, and ensure stable video and screen sharing. Network traffic blocked on these ports will lead to failing to connect to exam sessions or instability during the exam itself.
As an alternative, consider using a personal device or internet connection (outside your corporate network) to take the exam. This often bypasses corporate network restrictions.
4. Technical assistance: For immediate technical assistance during the exam, use the support chat within the ProctorU platform.
Important Note Regarding LMI (LogMeIn): LMI isn't recommended for the exam. Disregard any instructions mentioning LMI. Instead, provide your IT team with the network requirements (ports, IPs, URLs) linked above. Focus on ensuring those connections are open and accessible.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue preventing you from completing the prechecks or moving past the Begin Recording step.
Experiencing a disconnection during your Workday exam can be stressful, but don't worry! Reconnecting to your proctor is usually a straightforward process. Here's what to do:
- If the guardian browser is still open: Simply follow the precheck prompts to reconnect.
- If the guardian browser is closed: Re-enter the exam using the same link provided in your exam course. Select the play button to restart. You'll go through the security process again to reconnect.
Important:
- Restart your device and test your internet connection before trying to reconnect.
- Always launch your exam using the Questionmark page, not the ProctorU website.
- If ready, return to your exam immediately. Taking too long to connect might lead to your appointment being ended.
- Re-booking appointment. If you continue to face issues or the launch option is no longer available, provided you haven't started the exam, you'll be able to rebook your appointment without needing to re-enroll. Your prior appointment will be cancelled shortly after so that you can re-book a new appointment. You'll receive an email once the prior appointment is cancelled.
If you have any issues rebooking, work with your Training Coordinator to contact Workday Education using a Training Case for assistance.
If you continue to experience technical issues or are unable to return to your appointment, you’ll be required to re-book a new appointment. This can be done once the prior appointment has been cancelled by the proctor.
Wait for cancellation confirmation: You'll receive an email once the proctor cancels the prior appointment.
Rebook: Return to the My Assessments page in Questionmark to book a new appointment. You might need to cancel the appointment first on your end before you're able to rebook.
If you're not able to rebook an appointment, work with your Training Coordinator to open a Training case.
LogMeIn Rescue is a Chat Application. This provides the proctoring support agent access to troubleshoot your device and get you ready to take the exam.
Workday doesn't recommend installing the LogMeIn rescue applet.
- Ignore any instructions to open LMI and instead guide your IT team with the system requirements and network allow list requirements provided.
- Ignore the LMI ports and IP ranges in the required list.
Issues During the Exam
In the event of a technical issue during your exam, you might be disconnected and the guardian browser might close abruptly. This is likely due to an unstable internet connection or audio and video issues.
If you're disconnected from an appointment after starting your exam and are unable to resume within 30 seconds, you won't be able to proceed with this attempt. In that case, work with your Training Coordinator to open a training case requesting a new attempt.
Make sure to test your device and internet connection before connecting to the exam appointment. You might also experience slowness during the exam due to multiple other processes running in the background. We recommend that you restart your machine before starting the exam.
If you're disconnected from an appointment after starting your exam and are unable to resume your exam within 30 seconds, you won't be able to proceed with this attempt. Work with your Training Coordinator to open a training case requesting a new attempt.
In the event of any irregular behavior during the exam, the proctor will pause the exam to re-secure the environment. If the behavior persists, the exam will be terminated.
Some irregular behaviors include: A remote access software detected mid exam, using unpermitted resources, looking off screen, leaving the test area, and so on.
In the event of exam termination, the exam will be updated with a Failed grade on your transcript.
You must submit a new accomodation request for every exam attempt or enrollment. You should also let us know once you have completed the exam so that we can close out the accommodation. Review the Training Accessibility Accommodations page for a list of approved accommodations, then work with your Training Coordinator to open a Training case to request an accommodation.
Issues After Submitting the Exam
The exam status on your transcript will show as Pass/Fail once you have submitted the exam. If you have submitted the exam and the status didn't update, work with your Training Coordinator to submit a Training Case for further assistance.
