Exams for Training
To obtain Workday Pro and Services Certifications, students are required to pass a scheduled proctored exam either in-person or online.
Exams are managed through Questionmark, an online assessment platform, and proctored by Meazure Learning by the ProctorU platform. To take an online exam, students must install the Guardian Browser, a secure browser that connects to their proctored session and restricts access to other applications during the test. In-person exams are only available to net-new exam enrollments. Meazure Learning offers in-person testing globally through a network of over 1,400 test centers in 110 countries. View the list of available cities here through Meazure Learning.

Online Exam Conduct
- The Guardian Browser application restricts the use of other applications during the exam. It records your screen, video, and audio after you accept the terms and conditions. Recording stops when the exam ends and the Guardian Browser is closed.
- Visual indicators within the browser notify you when the recording is active.
- Ensure that all other applications are closed before starting the exam and don't navigate to other websites within the Guardian Browser.
In-Person Exam Conduct
- If you require technical assistance, raise your hand and ask your proctor.
- Unscheduled breaks (also known as bathroom breaks) are permitted. The exam timer doesn't stop during these breaks and you might not access your personal items.
Data Security and Privacy
- Recordings are securely stored within the ProctorU platform and are accessible only to authorized personnel from Workday Education and our proctoring partners.
- Recordings are automatically deleted after 60 days. If you need the recordings removed before this period, you can request them by opening a Workday Education Training Case.
- Personal information gets collected and processed in accordance with Workday's Privacy Statement, unless otherwise indicated in the Terms and Conditions.
Support
- For technical questions about the software, contact Meazure Learning using the support options on their website.
- For support with system requirements, installation of the secure Guardian Browser or questions about the testing experience itself including scheduling, visit Meazure Online Proctoring FAQ.
- For questions regarding Workday certification policies and procedures, including accommodations, work with your Training Coordinator to submit a training case.
- For troubleshooting steps while taking the exam, visit the Exam Day Support page.
Accommodations
Workday Education considers requests for accommodations for students with disabilities, which include both permanent or situational disabilities. Accommodations generally require approval and require a training case once the student has enrolled and scheduled their exam appointment. Provide 3 business days for Workday to process and add the accommodation to the test taker’s booked exam attempt. See our Training Accessibility Accommodations page for more information.
Translated Exams
You can schedule translated exams both in-person and online at any time using the same process as registering for exams in English in the Workday Learning Center. When launching the exam with the proctor, you can select a language other than English, where available. Note: Online proctors always communicate in English.
As we work on creating more translated exams, here are the ones currently available:
- Financial Management Data Loading Services Certification Exam
- Japanese
- HCM Data Loading Services Certification Exam
- Japanese
- Workday Pro HCM Core Certification Exam
- French, German, Japanese, Spanish
- Workday Pro Record to Report Certification Exam
- Japanese
Policy Changes and Impacts
- Students can take exams without completing the course with some exceptions that can be found in your certification requirements. If a student fails an exam, they can retake it without retaking any courses, but should consult their organization’s specific policies.
- If a student needs to retake an exam, there's a mandatory 4-calendar-day wait period after their most recent attempt before reenrolling for another exam attempt.
- Upon enrolling in the exam, students can book proctored exam appointments as early as the same day, subject to availability. The proctoring vendor offers global scheduling options.
- Students aren't refunded for exam failures or no-shows. For online proctored appointments, students can cancel and reschedule their exam booking up to their appointment time at no additional cost.
- Students can cancel their in-person test center exam up to 48 hours in advance.
- If a student selects to withdraw from the exam offered in the Workday Learning Center, our Workday Pro exam withdrawal policy applies.
- Secure internet connections deliver the computer-based tests. Internet connections are subject to local internet providers. While it isn't the norm, internet connections can, on occasion, be lost momentarily. If you lose your internet connection, inform the proctor for assistance. If for any reason you can't resume your exam, you might be asked to rebook your appointment. Workday isn't responsible for any costs or expenses incurred to participate in Workday Training.
- Numerical scores aren't provided. Exam results indicate Pass or Fail. A self-service report is available to display the outcome for each topic on the exam. This report provides insights into areas for improvement.
Exam Structure and Expectations
- Exams have a cost of 1 training credit per attempt.
- Workday certification assessments have a 2-hour time limit and consist of up to 55 items, including 50 scored items and some assessments include an additional 5 unscored items.
- Examinees can't tell which items are unscored, but we include unscored items to pilot their quality and functioning before using them as scored items on an exam. Only the 50 scored items count towards an examinee's score on the assessment. The 5 unscored items included on some exams aren't included in the coaching report that displays at the end of the exam, and don't count towards an examinee's score.
- A third-party facilitator proctors the exam that provides chat and voice support for technical and system needs. They don't support questions about the exam content itself or issues with Workday Learning Center enrollments.
- For online proctored exams, students need to test system requirements including downloading and installing the Guardian Browser and testing before the scheduled online exam time. Note: If applicable, work with your organization’s IT team before installing any software.
- Refer to this support page for detailed information on what to expect on exam day which includes a short video for professional exam takers.
- Students unable to meet these requirements should reschedule their exam before the appointment time until they can comply. Failure to meet these requirements prohibits a student from taking the exam or resulting in a failing grade, with a mandatory minimum 4 day waiting period before reenrollment.
Online Proctors Enforce These Rules
- Cameras and microphones are required for the entirety of the exam.
- Upon launching the exam appointment, the test taker is asked to agree to be recorded through the entirety of the exam. At this point, your screen, video, and audio including your physical environment are recorded and displays in the Guardian Browser. Note: This data is retained for 60 days and is used solely by Workday Education support personnel.
- The test taker’s identity is verified against their Workday Learning Center account. The taker needs to present a government-issued photo ID on the day of the exam. If you have questions around permitted IDs, open a case before the exam appointment.
- Requirements:
- Must include photo
- Government-issued
- Not expired
- Last Name must match the test-taker’s ProctorU account. If not, Training Coordinators need to open a training case.
- Photo resembles test-taker
- Images of IDs aren't permitted (without an accommodation); must be physical unless it's a digital issued ID
- Acceptable IDs:
- Driver’s license

- No looking off screen repeatedly, talking, or leaving your seat.
- Only 1 monitor is permitted during the exam, and the physical testing environment is scanned before the exam starts.
- No screen sharing applications or capturing screenshots are permitted.
- Violating any of these rules could result in these consequences:
- Warning provided to the candidate
- Exam session terminated
- Notification of violation to the Manager or Training Coordinator
- Revoke privileges to take an exam
- Revoking certification or invalidating exam results.
In-Person Proctors Enforce These Rules

- Bring a current government-issued photo ID with signature ready to verify your identity.
- ID Requirements:
- Must include photo
- Government-issued
- Not expired
- Last Name must match the confirmation notice. If not, Training Coordinators need to open a training case.

- Temporary government-issued ID

- Note: If discrepancies exist between your name listed on your ID and your Workday Community account, work with your Training Coordinator to update your name in Workday Community. Or submit a Training Case as soon as possible.
- Ensure you arrive at the test center at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to provide for checking-in and identity verification. If you arrive within 30 minutes after your exam start time, you aren't given more time to complete your exam. If you arrive more than 30 minutes after your exam start time, you're denied your seat to take the exam.
- There aren't refunds for a candidate that doesn't show up for their exam.
- Workday proctored exams don't require a code or password at the in-person exams.
- After completing the check-in process, you're given access to a secure storage area to store your personal belongings during the exam. Review the list of prohibited items before leaving for your appointment. All electronic devices and belongings must be stored in the storage area provided. All learners undergo a security check before entering the testing hall. Candidates aren't permitted to enter the examination room with sweaters or sweatshirts containing pockets or pouches.
