General Information
Workday Pro is a certification program designed for professionals to build and validate expertise in Workday.
Certified Workday Pros can broadcast their achievement with a digital badge, gain exclusive access to the Workday Pro Vantage Hub—the dedicated home base for certified Pros, and access to the Workday Touchpoints Kit.
Workday Pro offers an exclusive opportunity for Workday customers and partners to validate their expertise and become certified Workday product experts.
It's ideal for roles like Workday Administrators, Integration, and Security Leads, Named Support Contacts (NSC), and consultants, helping you improve your skills and impact.
To become Workday Pro certified, learners must successfully complete a Workday Pro exam. Exams have a cost of 1 training credit per attempt.
Workday Pro certifications also offer recommended courses, with costs varying by certification. While these courses are recommended, it isn't a requirement to allocate time and budget to training if a learner has enough applied experience to take the exam. You can visit the Workday Pro Certifications page for information on the available certifications, their training recommendations, and the associated costs.
Note: Customers with a Workday Success Plans subscription might be eligible to receive a Workday Pro exam fee waiver and access to discounted training.

Recertification
Visit the Workday Recertification Hub for any questions, guidelines, and resources regarding your recertification.
Recertification ensures the rigor and integrity of your Workday Pro certification. It verifies you maintain the essential product knowledge needed for effective Workday deployment and upholds the credential's relevance in the industry.
To maintain an active status, you must successfully recertify for each individual certification you hold.
- Timing: Every 2 years. An individual exam is required for every certification that you wish to maintain.
- Exam Format: Each exam is 2 hours long and consists of 50+ multiple-choice questions.
- Proctoring: Exams are proctored to ensure a secure assessment, verify your identity, and protect proprietary content. This standard helps us reliably evaluate and validate your Workday proficiency.
Visit the Workday Recertification Hub for any questions, guidelines, and resources regarding your recertification.
A recertification exam will be issued to all legacy-certified learners in September 2026, with a due date for completion by December 2, 2026.
Yes. To keep your Workday Pro certifications active, you must successfully complete a proctored exam for each one.
No. While update training is a valuable resource for staying current, it isn't mandatory to maintain your Workday Pro certification. There's no assigned content tied to update training for this purpose.
Successfully complete a proctored recertification exam every 2 years following your original certification completion date. You receive a notification before your recertification due date.
The recertification exam costs 0.25 Training Credits per attempt.
Legacy Certification Migration
Visit the Workday Recertification Hub for any questions, guidelines, and resources regarding your recertification.
For Certifications with an Equivalent
If your legacy Workday Pro certification directly maps to a new Workday Pro certification (Example: Workday Pro HCM (Legacy) to Workday Pro HCM Core Certification), you were automatically moved to the new certification starting in April 2025. To maintain your active certification status, you'll need to complete the recertification exam by the end of Workday's 2026 R2 (December 2, 2026) release.
For Certifications Without an Equivalent
If your legacy Workday Pro certification doesn't have a direct equivalent new certification, your organization has received a Workday Pro exam fee waiver.
While some legacy certifications might not have a 1-to-1 equivalent, they do align with comparable new certifications. To help with this transition, you can find a recommended new certification for each legacy certification on the Workday Pro Recertification page.
For Services Learners with Legacy Customer Certifications
If you're a Services learner with an active Workday Pro legacy customer certification, you've been enrolled into the corresponding Workday Pro Services Certification. To maintain an active certification, you need to complete the requirements of this new certification.
Individuals should plan with their Training Coordinators when to apply for the exam fee waiver. Training Coordinators can find instructions on the How-To: Manage Waived Enrollments page.
For legacy certifications to be automatically transferred, they had to be in active status—expired certifications weren't migrated. To reactivate an expired legacy certification, visit the Manage Expired Certifications page on the Workday Community. If your legacy certification was active but you didn't receive credit, contact your Training Coordinator, who can submit a Services Training Case on your behalf.
Yes, your legacy certification remains on your completed transcript.
To maintain an active Workday Pro certification, you must pass a recertification exam every 2 years. If you completed a legacy certification before December 2024, you must take your recertification exam by December 2, 2026, to keep your certification active. If not completed by this date, your certification expires. All customer legacy Pros are issued a recertification exam in September 2026, with a due date for completion by December 2026.
Yes. Once your migration to the new Workday Pro Certification is complete, you receive a notification from Credly to accept your updated badge. Your legacy badge is replaced with the new one.
Your current Credly badge will remain active through the next recertification period in 2026R2. Then, you have the opportunity to earn a new Workday Pro Certification and receive an updated badge.
