The objective of the Test stage is to complete End-to-End and Payroll Parallel (if applicable) testing. Each test effort has a different set of conditions and a different purpose. The configuration must meet the agreed-upon exit criteria for each test effort to move forward toward a go-live. We describe each of these test efforts below.

Some activities in this stage depend on the products deployed. Assume that all activities in the Test stage are required unless otherwise noted.

End-to-End Testing

• Attend the End-to-End Testing Kick Off 
• Complete End-to-End Testing

End-to-End Testing consists of data validation, functional testing, and testing of integrations.

• Data Validation
  • Validate data for both completeness and accuracy in Workday 
  • Data validation should be completed before functional testing begins
  • Data validation scenarios are provided to assist with this effort 
  • All data validation scenarios must be completed
• Functional Testing
  • Test functional configuration to validate that the system is working to expectations
  • Functional test scenarios are provided to assist with this effort and it's advised to create organization-specific scenarios as well
  • All functional testing scenarios must be completed
• End-to-End Life Cycle Testing
  • Test at least one complete end-to-end life cycle test during a dedicated testin session
  • A test scenario is provided to assist with this effort and will cover the life cycle of an employee from recruiting to their first payment as an employee (depending on scope)
• Integration End-to-End Testing
  • During testing for integrations, process transactions, process the integration, and work with third-party vendor to review testing results

End-to-End Testing Guided Testing Sessions.

• Participate in the End-to-End Guided Testing Sessions 
• Discuss any defects in follow-up sessions or weekly workstream meetings as needed

Payroll: Parallel Data

• Provide payroll history, time off, and time entry data

Payroll: Parallel Testing

Compare 2 separate payrolls processed in both the legacy system and Workday.

• Validate time off and time entry data loaded in Workday against a legacy system
• Validate payroll history loaded in Workday against quarterly tax reports from the legacy system 
• Processes 2 pay periods
  • Support the 1st cycle alongside the Workday Payroll Lead
  • Run the 2nd cycle with support from the Workday Payroll Lead
