Launch Flex Deployment Approach

Workday Methodology Overview

All Workday activations follow one Workday Methodology.  This proven, rapid methodology is based on years of experience deploying our products.

Stages

Workday’s methodology is based on key stages throughout an activation. There are 4 stages with these key objectives:

Plan Stage

  • Establish project management and administration based on agreed upon scope.

Configure Stage

  • Collaborate with customers, via Workday Journeys, to configure the system.

Test Stage

  • Validate configuration decisions and customer readiness.

Deploy Stage

  • Move to Production, stabilize, and transition to customer operations.

The statement of work (SOW) determines the scope of the Initial phase.  Phases typically represent the activation of net new product lines, like HCM, Payroll, and Financials.  For example, the Initial phase may consist of Core HR, Benefits, and Manager Self Service and a subsequent Phase may include the deployment of Financials.  The stages of the methodology remain the same regardless of Phase.

Key concepts that customers should understand about our activations are the ability to focus on the additional benefits of deploying Workday, including:

  • Faster time to value by quickly activating an initial solution.
  • Optimization and adoption of the existing solution through product updates and configuration, not customization.
  • Grow with Workday by extending the functionality of the solution, for example activating Talent Acquisition or Financials after your initial activation.

The Post Go-Live Survey is a means to capture invaluable feedback from customer Executive Sponsors and Project Managers regarding their activation. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the your activation experience, enabling us to drive continuous improvements in both our teams' performance and the end-to-end activation process.
