Workday Peakon Employee Voice Adoption Guide - Comments

Comments are a great way to gain insights around why employees rated specific questions with certain scores in your employee surveys. No matter if you want to enable a team that is new to Workday Peakon Employee Voice or long-term users where the number of comments shared has declined over time, below you’ll find some guidance on possible reasons and recommendations on how to improve the adoption of the comments feature.

The Importance Of Comments

Comments in survey questions left by your employees have a strong impact on both employee engagement and achieving your strategic objectives. The combination of qualitative and quantitative feedback will give you a deeper understanding of organizational results and enable you to execute on context-driven and meaningful actions.

Comments provide detailed insights on how organizations can support employees in terms of Belonging & Diversity, Environmental, Social, and Governance Practices. Learn more in the Employee Expectations 2022 report.

Lack of acknowledgment and feedback by your managers to the comments shared by employees might make them feel their feedback isn’t heard. This will lead to the employee feeling demotivated and might eventually reduce commenting on future surveys overall.

How To Encourage The Use Of Comments

Reinforce the Value of Workday Peakon Employee Voice at Your Workplace
Help your employees understand why it’s important to give feedback. Share the Employee Guide with them to help enable use of the platform.

Share and Discuss the Dashboard Results with Your Team
Encourage your managers to present their dashboard during team meetings. This can increase participation and enables managers to create an action plan together with their employees. Being transparent helps your employees understand the common goals of your organization and teams, guiding them in the right direction. Sharing and discussing the results is a great way to get your team involved in the decision-making process.

Acknowledge Comments
Feeling heard is an essential part of any conversation. Your managers should acknowledge and respond to all comments they can access. When employees know that someone has seen their feedback, it leads to better employee engagement. Acknowledging comments is one of the biggest drivers of high participation in survey rounds and has a positive impact on the quality of feedback. People leaders have the ability to select from one of 5 responses by clicking Acknowledge in the comments and selecting a response.

Engage in Conversations with Employees
People leaders can view and interact with comments from survey responses by initiating conversations or adding internal notes, directly from comments. Conversations are a great way for managers to gain more insight, by asking follow-up questions or simply leaving a response to the comment. We have seen increased participation from employees whose managers engage in comments and take action quickly.

The Importance Of Monitoring The Number of Comments

Our Employee Voice Report shows that employees are more likely to leave a comment on their Workday Peakon Employee Voice survey when they have an issue that needs to be solved.

When employees speak up and leave a comment with a low score in their survey, it could be a warning sign that something is troubling them. When their organization is listening for this insight regularly, it means they can be proactive and address issues as they occur. The leadership must regularly share what goals and actions are taken based on the feedback received so that employees feel heard/valued and continue to share comments.
