Milestones are assigned in one of 3 ways:

1. Self-Assignment

Self-assigned milestones are ideal for users who want to explore a product role before they're officially assigned to it or even before their organization has purchased the product. You can choose and assign these milestones to yourself directly from a curated library of options.

Milestones are grouped by Product and Business Outcome, making it easy for you to browse the available options and select the ones you’d like to explore. This experience lets you discover the capabilities of multiple products and roles, understand potential use cases, and better prepare to manage those products and responsibilities in the future. This experience is currently available to anyone with a Community account.

To get started, go to My Succes Path and explore the available Milestones in the Self-Assign Library. You can also watch the below video to learn more about the feature.

2. System Assignment

System-assigned milestones are automatically assigned when you’re added to certain roles within the Workday Community. They provide role-specific recommendations to help you learn quickly your responsibilities, using a mix of video and text-based content.

Currently, system-assigned milestones are available for the following roles:

  • Named Support Contact Administrator
  • Training Coordinator
  • Community Organization Administrator

Once assigned, your milestones appear on the Community home page under the Success Paths with Workday tile.

3. Product Role Assignment

Product Role milestones are assigned based on the product roles that you select in your Workday Community profile. Currently, product role based milestones are available for Workday Peakon and Workday Adaptive Planning products.

To receive a milestone based on your product role, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the profile icon in the top-right corner of Workday Community.
  • In the Product Roles section, click the pencil icon to select your product roles.
  • Workday Peakon users can select Peakon Administrator, Peakon Manager, or both.
  • Adaptive Planning users can select from Adaptive Planning Administrator and System Administrator. Learn more about these product roles on the Roles and Responsibilities Overview page.
  • Return to your home page and navigate to the ‘Success Paths with Workday’ tile to begin.

Named Support Contact Administrator Dashboard

Named Support Contacts (NSCs) and Named Support Contact Admins (NSCAs) can monitor the Success Path progress of users within their organization using the NSCA dashboard.

This dashboard provides meaningful insights into how users are engaging with their assigned milestones, enabling NSCs and NSCAs to:

  • Identify adoption gaps by filtering for users who haven’t started or have overdue activities in their milestones.
  • Track individual progress to follow up more effectively and offer targeted support.
  • Drive higher engagement by using real-time data to guide conversations and encourage completion.

With these actionable insights, NSCAs can proactively guide their teams and help ensure users get maximum value from their Workday products.

If you're an NSC, look for the Organization Progress tile on My Success Path, or access the dashboard directly here.
